The Horseshoe Curve Branch Line

New Additions: Twin PRR GP-35 Locomotives

From the beginning, I've always desired to have more Pennsylvania RR diesel locomotives on the Horseshoe Curve Branch Line roster. So, it comes as no surprise that two twin Pennsy GP-35's have now arrived on the layout - #2252 & #2253.

I started with 3 unpowered Southern Pacific RR GP-35 locomotives, which were collectibles from Reader's Digest-

and spray-painted all of them in matte black-

Then, I applied appropriate Pennsylvania RR decals to two locomotives of the trio, leaving the third for future Penn Central decal application. Success! Now both GP-35 #2252 & #2253 will serve on the Horseshoe Curve Branch Line, adding more locomotive power to freight train line-ups. These will, unfortunately, remain unpowered permanently, but nevertheless will serve a key purpose in Horseshoe Curve Weekly posts.

A photo of the pair of Pennsy GP-35's has been added to the "Locomotives" page. Look forward to seeing these diesels featured in future HCW posts!
